Social Media

Main page content

Social media is a powerful and effective way to share information and ideas.

Social Media Accounts

SAMHSA uses a variety of communication networks to reach our audience and better engage all citizens.

SAMHSA observes the requirements related to federal activities such as transparency, public process, and privacy. Neither SAMHSA nor the U.S. Department of Human Services (HHS) endorse any particular social media site.

Interacting with SAMHSA

The SAMHSA website is not the only way we communicate with people online. For some audiences, it is not even the most effective way for us to communicate. SAMHSA appreciates when the public shares SAMHSA's mission-driven priorities and initiatives.

Comment Policy

Respectful Interaction

We welcome your comments and want to keep our discussions respectful and useful. Please follow these guidelines when posting:

Stay Focused

All viewpoints are welcome, but comments should remain relevant to the website, page, video, photo, or post to which you're commenting.

Be Respectful

Constructive interaction is welcome. Personal attacks, foul language, and aggressive behavior are not.

Do Not Spam

Repeated posting of identical or very similar content is counter-productive. SAMHSA new media sites are for informative discussion. Do not send posts that aggressively promote services or products.

Comment Approval

SAMHSA keeps records of unapproved comments to limit spamming and inappropriate postings. Comments will not be approved if they contain:

  • Blatantly partisan views
  • Explicit commercial endorsements
  • Discriminatory, racist, offensive, obscene, inflammatory, unlawful, or otherwise objectionable statements, language or content

NOTE: Following SAMHSA or sharing SAMHSA content does not imply SAMHSA endorsement. The SAMHSA Comment Policy is subject to change without notice. Please review this policy periodically for changes.
