Tribal Consultation on Presidential Memorandum
On January 26, 2021, President Biden issued a Memorandum on Tribal Consultation and Strengthening Nation to Nation Relationships.  This required the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to submit a detailed plan for implementing Executive Order 13175, which charges all executive departments and agencies to engage in regular, meaningful, and robust consultation with Tribal officials in the development of federal policies that have Tribal implications.  During the week of March 22, 2021, HHS held Regional Tribal Consultation sessions to seek feedback and recommendations on how to improve the Department’s Tribal Consultation Policy.

Annual Tribal Budget Consultation
The 23rd U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Virtual Annual Tribal Budget Consultation (ATBC) was held virtually on April 6 -7, 2021.

Tribal Agenda Aims to Improve Behavioral Health in Native Communities
On December 6, 2016, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced the release of the Tribal Behavioral Health Agenda (TBHA), a first-of-its-kind collaborative tribal-federal blueprint that highlights the extent to which behavioral health challenges affect Native communities, in addition to strategies and priorities to reduce these problems and improve the behavioral health of American Indians and Alaska Natives.
