PIH MESSAGE ON PNA STATUS

Since 2015 the Department has been prohibited from enforcing the physical needs assessment requirement. Prior messages can be found here. 

However, formal capital needs assessments are an important industry-wide accepted tool to manage multiple areas of real estate operations, in addition to managing short and long-term capital needs. Therefore, the Capital Programs Division continues to encourage PHAs to conduct formal capital needs assessments and scheduled assessment updates, for the effective management of their assets. 

PHAs wishing to receive .XML files with their PIC data can download it via the EPIC system. These files are no longer available via email.

NOTE: the PNA tool developed by HUD was designed to be compatible with Microsoft Office 2007 or 2010 and is likewise only compatible with with Windows XP, Vista and 7. Therefore, there are significant barriers to using the tool and HUD is no longer able to support or provide technical assistance.
