Michelle Mathy

Michelle Mathy is the Head of Federal Affairs and Advocacy at Otsuka America Pharmaceutical Inc. In her role, Ms. Mathy is responsible for developing and executing Otsuka’s strategy to advance policies that improve patient access to mental health care, increase patient access to treatments, and advance digital health technology. Ms. Mathy and her team engage with Members of Congress, administration officials, trade associations, diplomats, patient organizations, and political organizations.
A government affairs leader committed to putting patients at the center of her advocacy work, Ms. Mathy started her health policy career at the American Hospital Association before holding positions at the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Academy of Dermatologists. Prior to joining Otsuka in 2021, she was the Director of Government Affairs and Policy at Biogen, Inc. where she was a member of the Biosimilars Business Unit Leadership Team and led Biogen’s gene therapy policy work.
Ms. Mathy currently serves on the Advisory Board of the National Minority Quality Forum. Ms. Mathy chaired the Specialty Physician PAC Forum from 2011-2018. She has spoken across the country on PAC fundraising, compliance, benchmarking, disbursements and government affairs strategy.
In her free time Ms. Mathy has volunteered with a number of women’s organizations including, N Street Village, Women in Governmental Relations, Women’s Information Network (WIN) where she served as Chair of WIN’s Young Women of Achievement program in 2009.
Ms. Mathy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Science in Communications concurrently from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
