Vice Chairman

Shawn Whitman is the government affairs lead for a top tier agricultural sciences company providing crop protection solutions and plant health innovation for growers.  In this capacity he creates and oversees the development and execution of the global policy and advocacy strategies for the corporation.  

Shawn has served in a variety of leadership capacities during his 25-year career in government affairs, including as a chief of staff for two U.S. Senators and private sector consulting.  As chief of staff, he was the principal advisor to the Senators managing all aspects of their Senate and political operations. Shawn developed major message themes, policy and political objectives, and strategic campaigns in coordination with White House, congressional leadership, federal agencies and state officials.  He was also responsible for re-election campaigns, fundraising and managing political consultants.  

Prior to joining FMC, Whitman was a principle for a private consulting firm as a lead strategist for Fortune 500 companies, national trade associations, and non-profit organizations.  Shawn provided strategic policy and regulatory insight to clients engaged in energy and environment, health care, technology, telecommunications and natural resource production.  Shawn specialized in crisis management specific to Congressional oversight, public perception challenges and media inquiries to achieve public policy goals.
