WITNESSES

U.S. Capitol Police Officer Caroline Edwards

U.S. Capitol Police Officer Caroline Edwards was the first law enforcement officer injured by rioters storming the Capitol grounds on January 6, 2021. Even after suffering a traumatic brain injury, Officer Edwards patrolled the Capitol’s West Plaza and prevented many rioters from entering the Capitol building. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, and cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia, Officer Edwards left a career in public relations to answer the call to serve in law enforcement in 2017. Since January 6th, her injuries have prevented her from returning to her previous assignment as a member of the USCP First Responder Unit. She looks forward to returning to that duty this year after being physically cleared.
