DIMHRS (Pers/Pay) Moves Forward

October 2004

On Wednesday, July 14, Captain Valerie Carpenter, Joint Program manager for DIMHRS (Pers/Pay), and Mr. John Dominicis, Chief of the Business Relations Division, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Computing Services, signed a Memorandum of Agreement for DISA to host both the DIMHRS (Pers/Pay) Corporate Data Center and Continuity of Operations Plan sites.  These sites will be located in Ogden, Utah and Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania respectively and will contain the infrastructure, web servers, application servers, database servers, and database storage servers necessary to make DIMHRS (Pers/Pay) a reality.

Included among many activities that DISA will perform are web services that must be available and running 24 hours per day 7 days a week and the provision of technical web server support to ensure applications run correctly in the server environment.  This will require a scalable infrastructure capable of processing 3.5 million paychecks in less than 6 hours. It will also require the ability to handle 80,000 concurrent on-line users with an average response time of no more than 1.1 seconds.  DISA will also provide the associated hardware.

The agreement culminated months of work and negotiation by both parties and included provision for the systems integration and acceptance phases of development to be conducted at the DISA Slidell facility here in Louisiana.
