Local Information
As host of the 2004 G8 Summit, the United States is responsible for organizing all aspects of the Summit, including selecting the Summit site. President Bush selected Sea Island, Georgia for its beautiful natural setting and reputation of gracious hospitality. While Sea Island will host the G8 Leaders, Savannah, Georgia, will host thousands of members of the international Press Corps. The Sea Island Summit will bring international visitors to all of Georgia. For many of these attendees, it will be their first visit to Georgia. We hope they not only take in the beautiful scenery, but enjoy some of the state’s well-known southern hospitality.
