2004 Bald Eagle Release:
12 juvenile bald eagles were released
on Santa Cruz Island in Summer 2004 as a part of a 5-year feasibility study. The hope is that these birds, located farther away from the DDTs that continue to cause egg shell thinning in bald eagles on Catalina Island, will enjoy greater reproductive success. To date, 35 eagles have been released on Santa Cruz, and 14 remain on the Northern Channel Islands. Check our photo gallery.
