About Latinas Contra Cancer
Latinas Contra Cancer was created to connect Latinos dealing with cancer and their families to quality health care services. We are based in San Jose, CA and provide different services on a local and national basis.

Our website www.latinascontracancer.org is used as an educational tool to provide links to resources, ongoing information and health care providers.

We give researchers, therapists and cancer specialists an opportunity to write and post online, articles of interest related to treatment and therapy, support groups, emotional and psychological issues, research and clinical trials available to the Latino community.
We encourage Latinos and other contributors to send us both English and Spanish news, and to write the articles in terms, and at a level, that the population we serve can understand.

About our Author, Jorge Partida
PsyD, Illinois School of Professional Psychology, Former Deputy Director of Behavioral Health for San Francisco Dept. of Public Health, former Director of Doctorate Program, John F. Kennedy University, Concord, CA. Member, American Psychological Association
Consultant to Latino Commission Adult Substance Abuse Treatment Org and San Francisco based Horizons, Unlimited {Youth Leadership & Substance Abuse Treatment}.
Dr Partida also works on Spanish language TV to discuss health issues for Latinos.

Dr Partida writes about the fear and anxiety family members, particularly men, face when their partner gets a breast cancer diagnosis. He talks about how they not only react irrationally, they start to become distant and separate from the family. He provides insight for readers on how to approach the diagnosis, show support for the loved one and handle one's own emotional trauma.
