Terrorist Targeting of Civilians Unjustifiable, United Nations Says
Ambassador Danforth calls unanimous statement "immensely important" -- A resolution adopted unanimously by the U.N. Security Council October 8 states that terrorism is "one of the most serious threats to peace and security," and establishes a working group to propose practical counterterrorism measures. New U.S. Contribution to OCHA Additional Funding for OCHA Adds to U.S. Assistance to the Palestinian People -- The U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem has informed the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) that the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM) will contribute $332,419 for OCHA’s operations in the West Bank and Gaza this year. This brings the Department of State’s contribution to OCHA worldwide to $1,333,694 during Fiscal Year 2004, which ended on September 30.(complete text)
Interview with Consul General David D. Pearce On September 15, 2004 Consul General David Pearce gave an extensive intereview to Muhammad Abu Khidayr from "Al-Quds" newspaper -- "... [W]here are we going and what can the United States do? Well, the important thing is where can things be going. And there I think the answer is clear, and that should be towards implementation of the roadmap to which both sides have agreed. The best way forward is dialogue and cooperation.
