Summary:
In this seminar, Kumea Shorter-Gooden will report on the findings from the African American Women’s Voices Project (which she conducted with Charisse Jones), a large-scale qualitative research study of the impact of racial and gender stereotypes and bias on black women, ages 18 to 88, from throughout the United States. Drawing on her years of clinical experience, she will discuss the implications for treatment with black women. Detailed clinical illustrations and recommendations for effective therapy with and advocacy on behalf of black women will be discussed.
