U.S. State Department Electronic Journals

The U.S. State Department International Information Programs publishes five electronic journals (Issues of Democracy, Economic Perspectives, U.S. Foreign Policy Agenda, Global Issues, U.S. Society & Values) on an irregular, rotating cycle, with new journal appearing every three weeks.

The journals are in Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML). In addition, they are available for download in Adobe Acrobat format (PDF). (Adobe Acrobat is an excellent tool for viewing and printing formatted files on practically every kind of computer and operating system. Language & Civil SocietyLanguage and Civil Society Electronic Journal consists of four thematic volumes: Civic Education, Peace Education (Conflict Resolution), Environmental Education, and Business Ethics. Every Friday a new chapter in one of the volumes is put online. Each volume will eventually have a total of ten chapters, with each chapter devoted to an impotant thematic issue in building and maintaining a civil society.

English Language ProgramsEnglish Teaching Forum Online is a quarterly journal for teachers of English as a foreign or second language. Articles focus on the theory and practice of teaching English and include discussions of methods, techniques and ideas useful in the classroom. Thematic content varies, often focusing on an aspect of American culture or a particular language skill or teaching approach.
