SPAN celebrated the first anniversary of its Hindi and Urdu editions on

Friday, June 4, 2004. Over 100 guests attended the event, which was held at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.

The evening was comprised of a panel discussion on “Making a Difference in the Community” and an exhibit of articles and photos published in Hindi and Urdu SPAN. The panelists for the event were well-known personalities in New Delhi such as Ms. Mrinal Pande, Editor “Hindustan,” Dr. Naresh Trehan, Executive Director, Escorts Heart Institute and Mr. Javed Abidi, Executive Director, National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People.

The panel discussion was followed by a lively interactive session with the audience and was moderated by Mr. Pankaj Pachauri, Senior Editor, NDTV. Ambassador David C. Mulford gave the opening remarks and praised the role of SPAN magazine in promoting mutual understanding and fostering greater people-to-people contact between the United States and India. The objective of the anniversary event was to build awareness of the vernacular editions of SPAN and to encourage greater interaction with our audience of Hindi and Urdu speaking young professionals.
