The Martin Luther King, Jr Library is located at 620 Avenue John F. Kennedy. The Martin Luther King, Jr Library is the research and reference service of the American Embassy in Ouagadougou. Our collection specializes in materials on U.S. foreign policy, social and cultural issues, the economy, human rights and American studies.

The Martin Luther King, Jr library collection has approximately 4,000 volumes. Half of the collection is in English and the other half is in French. The Martin Luther King, Jr library also has 208 titles reserved for university professors in the area of American literature, culture and civilization.

We subscribe to 30 periodicals in hard copy. Full text and abstracts of approximately 100 magazines are available online through commercial databases such Lexis-Nexis and Bell & Howell Bell. Department of State Electronic Journals are also accessible in print or through the Internet. In addition, the Martin Luther King, Jr library has 25 CD-ROMs on topics such as American history and culture and American colleges and universities, as well as encyclopedias.

The Martin Luther King, Jr library technician provides quick reference assistance and research on all American topics, using print and digital sources. Queries are accepted by telephone, e-mail, fax or in person during public hours.

The Martin Luther King, Jr library director prepares bibliographies on new acquisitions, and articles on mission themes to send to interested members. Training and demonstration sessions on the resources and services of the Martin Luther King, Jr library can be arranged for individuals and groups upon request.

The Martin Luther King, Jr Library has an internet room used by target audience such us researchers, journalists, human rights activists, university professors, government official etc. The room is equipped with four computers connected to internet. A training session is organized for those whose who do not know how to search on the internet.
