The United States English Language Fellows Program in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Montenegro will host a series of seminars to train primary and secondary school teachers of English language to be mentors of student teachers.

Teachers as Mentors of Student Teachers


Participants

This seminar is designed for teachers of English working at the primary and secondary level:
who have a desire to guide and assist student teachers in their practical training.
who want to develop their knowledge and skills in observation, counseling, and styles of intervention.
who have displayed an effort to stay up-to-date in the field of ELT by attending workshops and seminars.
who have a minimum of four years teaching experience.
who are currently employed at a school.

Organization

There will be four sets of workshops on mentoring during the autumn and winter of 2004-2005. Workshops will take place over the weekends. Sessions will be facilitated by visiting American English Language Fellow, Professor Cindy Rauth, MA and guest speakers from the field of ELT Methodology.
Participants will conduct peer and self observations in their schools.
Participants will conduct a mentoring practice by working with a student teacher in the spring of 2005.
Certificates with 40 credit hours will be awarded upon successful completion of the training.
