U.S. Congress Official visits U.S.–funded Health Center Reconstruction Project in Rafailovići

On Tuesday, August 24th at 14:00, Dr. Michael Haltzel, the Senior foreign policy advisor to U.S. Senator Joseph R. Biden, will visit the Reconstructed Health Center, Pharmacy and Community Center Project in Rafailovići, Municipality of Budva. The reconstruction of this multipurpose center has been financed by the people of the United States, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and implemented by International Relief and Development (IRD). USAID and IRD officials will brief Dr. Haltzel on the status of the project, which is an example of close cooperation between Montenegro citizens, municipal officials, and international partners.

The Health Center had not been in use since the 1979 earthquake, and residents and visitors had to travel to Budva for all primary health care services. With the reconstruction of the building, about 2,000 full-time residents of the town, as well as thousands of tourists, can now benefit from the new health center, pharmacy and community center situated in the building.

The total value of the project is $112,202. The people of the United States, through USAID's Community Revitalization Through Democratic Action (CRDA) program implemented by IRD, provided $55,113, while the citizens of Rafailovići community, through the Municipality of Budva, contributed the remainder.

The CRDA program in Montenegro, supported by the U.S. Government., through USAID, is a $33.3 million, three-year, community development program that empowers citizens to engage in improving their quality of life in a way that promotes economic development and builds trust between citizens, municipalities and government.

Zvaničnik američkog Kongresa posjetiće ambulantu u Rafailovićima renoviranu američkim sredstvima

U utorak, 24. avgusta 2004. godine, u 14:00 sati, dr Majkl Halcel, viši savjetnik za spoljnu politiku američkog senatora Džozefa R. Bajdena, posjetiće renoviranu ambulantu, apoteku i društveni centar u Rafailovićima, opština Budva. Projekat rekonstrukcije tog višenamjenskog centra finansirali su građani Sjedinjenih Američkih Država, preko Američke agencije za međunarodni razvoj (USAID) i njene partnerske Organizacije za međunarodnu pomoć i razvoj (IRD). Službenici USAID-a and IRD-a informisaće dr Halcela o statusu projekta koji predstavlja primjer bliske saradnje građana Crne Gore, opštinskih zvaničnika i međunarodnih partnera.

Ambulanta u Rafailovićima nije korišćena od zemljotresa 1979. godine i mještani i posjetioci morali su da putuju do Budve za sve usluge primarne zdravstvene zaštite. Rekonstrukcijom zgrade, oko 2000 stanovnika Rafailovića i hiljade turista mogu sada da koriste novu ambulantu, apoteku i društveni centar smještene u toj zgradi.
