Information about nonimmigrant and immigrant visa processing at the Embassy will be available from live bilingual customer service representatives between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. workdays, and between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturdays and most holidays.

Immigrant visa, V visa, K3/K4 visa, and K1 fiancé visa applicants will be able to obtain information about their own case, such as when their appointment is scheduled and what documents are needed to complete processing their case. They will also be able to make requests to reschedule appointments or change address information.

To enable us to offer this enhanced service there will be a charge for each call.

To call from El Salvador

1. You must first purchase a special Telefónica calling card "VISAS-USA" for $15.00. The number to call and other instructions are printed on the reverse of the card. Cards are available from Telefonica offices and at most locations throughout El Salvador where Telefonica cards are sold.

2. Visa applicants may now get immigrant or nonimmigrant visa information by dialing 900-6011. The call has a cost of USD$1.87 per minute plus IVA, and will be included in the caller’s phone bill. Callers to the 900 number are charged by the minute. The number is not accessible from public phones, cellular phones and some businesses that have 900 numbers blocked. Visa applicants do not need a calling card to use the new 900 number service.

From the U.S. and other countries
Callers may call 818-755-8425 (this is NOT a toll free number) in the United States and charge their call to a major credit card (Visa or Mastercard).

The enormous volume of calls for visa information has overwhelmed the Embassy's ability to provide complete information in a timely manner. We hope this new service will significantly enhance our ability to provide information when requested.

Emergency cases will be referred directly to the Embassy for appropriate action by the customer service representative after the person has contacted our Visa Information Center.
