Ambassador Barclay Visits Legal Aid Clinic in San Miguel
July 22, 2004
On Tuesday, July 20, U.S. Ambassador H. Douglas Barclay toured
the installations of the Legal Assistance Clinic at the
Universidad de Oriente in San Miguel and met with the Dean
of the University, senior law faculty, and personnel of
the Clinic.
The Clinic is run by the University's law professors
and law students and provides free legal assistance to
those who cannot afford a lawyer. While providing these
services to the public, the Clinic also offers practical
training in the legal process to law students.
The Clinic
has received approximately $30,000 in technical assistance,
training, and equipment from USAID's rule of law program.
