Ambassador H. Douglas Barclay and Salvadoran Minister
of Agriculture launched the project “Pest
Risk Assessment Studies for Non-Traditional Agricultural
Exports”, which will provide resources to carry out
pest risk assessment studies of four ethnic products: leaf
of chipilín, flower of izote, chufle and pacaya,
will be possible thanks to $300,000 from the Department
of Agriculture
of the United States.
The results of these studies should guarantee the soundness
of these crops for the export market. The funds will also
serve to enable technicians of the Ministry of Agriculture
to carry out risk-assessment studies on other agricultural
products.
