American Embassy
The US Embassy in Libreville works with the governments of both Gabon and Sao Tome and Principe to advance democracy and human rights, promote economic reform and diversification, and improve regional stability. The Embassy protects American citizens in those countries and seeks to increase American investment and trade. |

The Post and Its Administration
The Chancery is located in a remodeled bank overlooking the estuary near
the heart of Libreville. The Administrative Section is housed in offices
next to the Chancery. The post is organized along traditional Embassy lines.
The Ambassador, a Deputy Chief of Mission, an Economic/Consular Officer,
a Political Officer, and one American Office Management Specialist make
up the basic State program personnel. The Administrative Section is headed
by the Administrative Officer and consists of a General Services Officer,
two Information Management Officers, and local employees.

Monday - Thursday, 8:00am to 5:15 pm
Friday, 8:00am to 2:00pm

Peace Corps
Peace Corps first came to Gabon in 1963. Normally, 60-70 Volunteers work
in environmental and health education programs, and teaching English as
a second language. Most Volunteers are located in the interior of the country.
The Peace Corps Gabon staff includes a Director and two Associate Directors.

International Broadcasting Bureau (VOA) Sao Tome Transmitting Station
The Station broadcasts Voice Of America programs to all of Africa in six
different languages. The Station began operations on Sao Tome in 1992. The
Station also broadcasts programs for Sao Tome's Radio Nacional on the island.
The Station has a staff of three American officers plus local staff. Read
