Emergency Management InstituteThe Emergency Management Institute provides a nationwide training program of resident courses and non-resident courses to enhance U.S. emergency management practices.
Assistance to Firefighters Grant ProgramThe purpose of the program is to award one-year grants directly to fire departments of a State to enhance their abilities with respect to fire and fire-related hazards. This program seeks to support departments that lack the tools and resources necessary to protect the health and safety of the public and their firefighting personnel with respect to fire and fire-related hazards.
Fire Prevention and Safety GrantThe purpose of this program is to provide assistance to State, regional, national or local organizations to address the issues of fire prevention and firefighter safety. Our primary goal is to address at risk target groups and/or USFA identified goals. By statute, the emphasis for this program will be given to the prevention of injury to children.
National Residential Fire Sprinkler InitiativeUnder this initiative, USFA seeks to develop and implement policies that have an immediate National impact on the removal of barriers inhibiting the acceptance and use of residential fire sprinklers to reduce life loss and injuries.
A Fire Safety Campaign for Babies and ToddlersThis public awareness and education campaign is designed to draw attention to the increased risk of fire death for young children, and to teach parents and caregivers how they can avoid the tragedy.
Fire Department CensusProvides a listing of U.S. fire departments registered with USFA as well as some basic information about each fire department. The purpose of the census is to create a national database for use by USFA to conduct special studies that will guide program decision-making and to improve direct communication with individual fire departments. Our colleagues in the fire protection and prevention communities, allied professions and the general public are able to use the database for similar purposes.
National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS)NFIRS is the world's largest annual collection of incident data on fire department activity. It has two objectives: to help State and local governments develop fire reporting and analysis capability for their own use, and to obtain data that can be used to more accurately assess and subsequently combat the fire problem at a national level.
FireSafety.govFireSafety.gov is a one-stop information resource on the Internet for residential fire safety and prevention information distributed by the Federal government.
