The IRS is committed to hiring individuals with disabilities at all levels
of our organization. Our goal is to be a model employer of individuals
with disabilities, both inside and outside of the Federal government.
Getting Started
The IRS has a track record of exercising special
appointing authorities to recruit and hire persons with disabilities.
If you have the qualifications and competencies for any of our positions,
you may apply for any current vacancy announcement and indicate on your
application that you are applying under a special appointing authority
for disabled individuals. You should have a certification statement from
a counselor from a State vocational rehabilitation agency (SVRA) or the
Department of Veterans Affair's Vocational Rehabilitation Office.
Further information about positions for disabled individuals
can be found at the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Federal Employment
of People with Disabilities website, at http://www.opm.gov/disability/
Once you are on board
The IRS is committed to giving full consideration to employees with disabilities
for inclusion in developmental opportunities. This includes training and
other activities designed to maintain and improve your technical and management
skills. And, we have the infrastructure to provide the reasonable accommodation
you need to be a success both on the job and in our many training courses.
This is a great time to begin exploring your new
career.
