R&D Alliance Network
|
|
|
The R&D Alliance
Network website is not a substitute for appropriate business
or legal advice, but it is designed to help you and your organization
to collaborate with others for application to the Advanced
Technology Program. Companies can use alliances whether they
are applying as single companies or as joint ventures. While, an
ATP Joint Venture (JV) is more like an informal R&D alliance
than a typical "joint venture" as defined in business or by law,
a key requirement for an ATP Joint Venture is that at least two
of the alliance partners must be for-profit companies. A detailed
explanation of eligablity requirements for ATP applicants can be
found in Chapter 1, Section B
of the ATP Proposal Preparation Kit. Especially if you are new to
collaborative research, the ATP ALLIANCE NETWORK can help
you:
- understand the pros and cons of R&D; alliances;
- appreciate the conditions that maximize success in R&D; alliances;
- get a handle on the selection and management processes involved
in an ATP award; and
- point you toward other resources for R&D; alliances.
This information should give you a sense of the business, managerial,
administrative, and legal resources you will need to find appropriate
partners, negotiate adequate agreements, and successfully manage
an ATP Joint Venture.
Even if you are not applying for an ATP award at this time, we
hope that the ATP ALLIANCE NETWORK will help
you explore collaborative R&D options today so that you and
your partners can develop strong ATP proposals when the right
opportunities arise.
