Disability and Workforce Programs (DDWP) home page, Disability Online. DDWP develops and
implements disability policy and program initiatives related to the workforce system, including a
cross-agency collaboration to address structural barriers to employment for individuals with disabilities. DDWP supports the New Freedom Initiative to improve career and employment outcomes for people with disabilities through innovative skill training and systems change grant activities.

Grant Programs
Work Incentive Grants - DDWP administers approximately $40 million in Work Incentive
Grants to enhance
the One-Stop Career Center system and by providing comprehensive informational and assistance services
on multiple programs for which people with disabilities are eligible. Eighty-eight grants have been
awarded in three rounds since October 2000 to state and/or local workforce investment boards, and to
public and nonprofit organizations working closely with these entities.
ETA Disability Employment Grants - Twelve multi-site Disability Employment Grants totaling $5.5 million
were awarded in 2002 to showcase innovative training options for people with significant disabilities
within the One-Stop Career Center system.
Disability IT Grants - DDWP administers several Disability IT Grants, awarded in June 2001
to improve employment opportunities for people with disabilities through intensive IT skills training and
close working partnerships with the IT employer community.
Disability Program Navigator Initiative - ETA and SSA are jointly funding a $24
million Disability Program Navigator Initiative in 17 states where SSA is establishing employment support
initiatives. This initiative promotes comprehensive services and work incentive information for SSA
beneficiaries and other individuals with disabilities through the One-Stop system.
Ticket-to-Work and Work Incentive Improvement Act (TWWIIA) - ETA issued Training and Employment
Notice 6-02 on January 6, 2003, to provide information on the participation of One-Stop Career Centers
as Employment Networks in the Ticket-to-Work program enacted under TWWIIA.
