Afghan Election Results Will Reflect Popular Will, Says Powell
Secretary of state tells Chicago Tribune Iraqi people desire same experience

Secretary of State Colin Powell says he believes the results of Afghanistan's October 9 presidential elections, despite reported difficulties, will reflect the will of those who voted. He tells a Chicago journalist that when the election officials have counted the votes and declared a winner, it "will be an adequate reflection of the will of all those people we saw standing in line, even after you discount" the problems involved in the election process. (complete text)
