Zoellick sees free trade as key to Middle East peace, prosperity

International trade and investment can create a context for greater peace, democracy and prosperity in the Middle East, according to U.S. Trade Representative Robert Zoellick. USTR Zoellick says FTA will create prosperity, opportunity, hope

The United States and Bahrain sign the U.S.-Bahrain Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in a move that drastically reduces trade barriers, expands economic opportunities and encourages reformers. The FTA "will enhance commercial relations with an economic leader in the Gulf, and set the stage for improving trade relations and expanding openness with other countries in the region, creating prosperity, opportunity, and hope," according to U.S. Trade Representative Robert Zoellick. (complete text)
