At the suggestion of Ambassador Daniel R. Coats, the American Embassy and the Consulates General of the United States of America in Germany would like to introduce a new initiative for dialog with students of secondary schools. The secondary school speaker outreach program will first begin in the new Bundeslaender.
This program is intended to offer young people in Germany the opportunity to engage with American interlocutors in an intensified exchange of ideas and opinions about basic aspects of American society, history and culture.
The Americans who will be participating in this program include American diplomats from the Embassy and Consulates, American Fulbright grantees and American students, who are currently residing in Germany. While we are prepared to provide German language speakers, we would also be pleased to have speakers conduct their programs in English, for those schools where this is preferred.
The intention of the program is not to focus on current policy issues. While these are important, we are convinced that a dialogue on more basic aspects of American society is even more important at present.
The visit of a speaker is at no cost to the requesting school. Inquiries from interested schools can be directed to the following addresses. In your inquiry, please don’t forget to include information about the school, school grade, contact person and likely discussion topics, as well as the desired date and language for the visit.
