President Bush reported to the American people on his just-concluding five-nation trip to Africa in his July 12 radio address to the nation. More


Bush Concludes Five-Nation Africa Tour in Nigeria
Abuja, Nigeria -- President Bush spent the last day of his July 8-12 tour of five African nations visiting a hospital with a special HIV/AIDS program and addressing the sixth biennial Leon Sullivan Summit. More

In the shadow of Goree Island's "Door of No Return" that saw so many Africans shipped to the Americas as slaves, President Bush marked the beginning of his five-nation tour in Africa with the pledge, "We will ensure that the nations of Africa are full partners in the trade and prosperity of the world," stand side by side with them for peace and justice, confront "desperate hunger with food and compassion" and join together "in turning the tide against AIDS in Africa." Rice Focuses on "Positive Agenda" of Bush Trip to Africa
National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice said July 3 in a White House briefing that she hopes people focus on President Bush's positive agenda for Africa during his July 7-12 trip there, not just on whether the United States will send troops to Liberia.
