Decision involves United States, international asset blocks, travel bans
Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's group of radical Islamic terrorists is formally designated as a terrorist organization under the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act, and as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist under Executive Order 13224. Because of the network's links to al-Qaida, the United States and others are asking the U.N. 1267 Sanctions Committee to add the group to its list of terrorist groups subject to international sanctions.
