Building Relationships with USAID/Zambia

USAID/Zambia Administration

Administrative functions at USAID/Zambia are carried out by the Director's Office (DIR), the Controllers Office (CONT), the Program Office (PRM) and the Executive Office (EXO). The first three offices provide support to the Strategic Objective Teams, contractors, and partners in the implementation of mission projects while the Executive Office's personnel, auction and procurement functions are described below.

Executive Office (EXO) -
The USAID/Zambia Executive Office is responsible for mission administration, Including human resources, computer systems management, maintaining Security, travel and transportation, shipment and clearance of program-related Items, contracting for local services, and other purchasing functions. Following is a summary of information related Executive Office functions and opportunities.

Personnel Policy:
When seeking United States Personal Services Contractors (USPSCs) and other USAID/Zambia employees, recruitment efforts are geared towards hiring qualified employees who have the potential to expand their skills and knowledge. USAID/Zambia is firmly committed to the principles of equal opportunity and fair employment practices. This commitment is an integral part of our recruitment policies. When USAID/Zambia has a vacancy, the Mission advertises both with the American Community as well as in the local press.(Times of Zambia, Zambia Daily Mail and Post newspapers)

United States Personal Services Contract (USPSC) International and locals, or within Zambia,USPSC Consultant and Intern positions are advertised in US newpapers and in The Economist.

Auctions:
The sale of used household furniture and furnishings including used cars and office furniture is conducted twice a year, by public spot bid sale. The auctions are advertised in the local press.

Procurement:
Occasionally throughout the year, USAID/Zambia procures services, supplies, and equipment needed to support office operations. Some examples include computers, vehicles, office furniture, household furniture and expendable supplies. These products are purchased from local and American firms which are requested to submit quotes.
