Energy Awareness Month: Smart Energy Choices

Energy Awareness Poster: We're finding ways to - BE RESOURCEFUL
October is Energy Awareness Month. This year's theme promotes smart energy choices and highlights supporting our economy, protecting our environment, and increasing energy independence.

Each year for Energy Awareness Month—October—FEMP provides materials and event ideas to help promote energy-saving practices at federal facilities. Materials include posters, bookmarks, and other promotional materials that carry the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) energy awareness message.

Energy Awareness Month 2004

This year's Energy Awareness Month theme, "Smart Energy Choices," continues and reinforces the theme of Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham's energy awareness campaign launched last summer. The message on this year's promotional materials is "support our economy, protect our environment, and increase energy independence."

To help spread this message, FEMP has produced outreach materials to serve as "Resourceful Reminders" for federal agency staff and others. These items include posters, 3D-animated bookmarks, business card carriers, and monitor calendars. They will be available by mid-September 2004.

FEMP appreciates federal and private partners who assist in spreading the word. Your participation in distributing promotional materials and conducting energy awareness campaigns is vital to making agency personnel and others aware of the importance of saving energy. However, supplies of materials are limited, especially this year. Partners/employees who require bulk quantities are encouraged to reproduce the materials. A free CD containing high resolution graphic files is available from the EERE Information Center, 1-877-337-3463.

Additional information about energy efficiency and energy savings also is available on the EERE website, http://www.eere.energy.gov. For further information please contact Annie Haskins, FEMP Communications and Outreach Manager, annie.haskins@ee.doe.gov.

Energy Awareness Month 2003

In 2003, the U.S. Department of Energy's message for Energy Awareness Month encouraged federal personnel to lead by example by adopting wise energy efficiency practices. The slogan on the promotional materials, "Energy Efficiency: Good for You, Good for the Country," conveyed the message that individuals can help increase our national energy supply and improve energy security through energy efficiency.
