Mail Services
GENERAL: The Department of Energy mail centers exist to assist in the performance of official business. This service is not intended for the personal use by Department employees. Misuse of Government mail can result in prosecution under Title 18 U.S.C., Section 17.19.
MAIL FACILITIES: The Office of Administrative Services operates two mail centers at Headquarters locations:

EXTERNAL MAIL is all material received from or entering into the U.S. Postal Service system.
All addresses used for DOE organizations should be in the following format.

OUTGOING ENVELOPES should include routing symbol and building code in the return address block.
OVERNIGHT MAIL is to be addressed to street address and building location (if known) and Zip Code.
INTERNAL MAIL is all material which does not leave the in-house system for transporting.

FIELD LOCATIONS: Some field locations can be reached by using an internal address via "field pouches." All field locations not listed must be sent as External Mail.
FIELD POUCH service is available from the Forrestal and Germantown sites for material not exceeding 26 inches in girth. This material can be prepared as internal mail when clear indication as to field office destination is given. These pouches are available to:
