- The Electronic Resource Library
(sponsored by the Amarillo National Resource Center for Plutonium)
- The Electronic Resource Library (ERL) is being constructed and administered through the
Document Exchange Laboratory at the Lynn Library Learning Center on the Amarillo College
campus in Amarillo, TX. Funded by a grant from the Amarillo National Resource Center for
Plutonium, it is the first electronic, subject-specific library on the
Internet--collecting, scanning, processing, and electronically exchanging information on
plutonium. It is designed to support the scientific and technical projects of the
researchers and scientists funded by the Amarillo National Resource Center for Plutonium,
but many of its services and resources are of interest to elected officials and
policy-makers, K-16 math and science teachers and students, and the interested citizen.
All these interest groups may access the ERL through the World Wide Web (WWW). Every title
in the library has passed through a screening process that selects only scientific and
technical research topics concerning storage, use, disposition, transportation,
environmental aspects, health and safety aspects, and the history of plutonium. This
information has become invaluable as the nation moves toward final disposition of weapons
plutonium.
