Energy management is one of the most challenging tasks facing today's federal facility managers. Federal managers grapple with tough energy management questions from how to build a sustainable new facility to how to choose an energy-efficient and cost-effective boiler. Federal managers can find opportunities to improve energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy technologies in the following areas: new construction and retrofits; equipment procurement; operations and maintenance; and utility management.
