Core Technologies

The Open Math Project
This project is developing a standard language for the representation of mathematical formulas. This language would be suitable for input of formulas to numerical and graphics programs, for transportation between computer algebra systems, as well as input to typesetting programs.
Math-ML of the WWW Consortium
This is a proposal, related to the OpenMath project, for a mathematical markup language to be included in a future version of HTML. Although Math-ML includes tags for visual markup (positioning, and so forth) it has a strong component of logical markup.
Java
Java is a portable programming language that, among other things, provides the ability for programs to be downloaded into the user's browser and executed there, rather than at the server. For our project, one can envision java being used for local computation of function values for tables or graphics, as well as function viewers.
Virtual Reality Meta Language
VRML is a language for describing 3D objects and scenes. We are using it to describe the complicated, high resolution, surfaces one encounters in rendering a special function's surface.
Dublin Core
A proposed standard for providing bibliographic information.
