Have you noticed that your dinner, your
homework or family television time hasn't been interrupted by a phone call from someone
trying to sell something to your parents? That's because the FCC and the Federal
Trade Commission (FTC) have set up a Do Not Call List. That means that if your
parents signed up, telemarketers (phone sales people) are not allowed to call. Read

Last year, the FCC passed some rules, called
Wireless Local Number Portability, that allows you, your friends and family to change
wireless telephone companies and still keep the same number. As long as your stay
within the same local area, you do not have to get a new telephone number. Before
this rule was passed, every time you changed phone companies, you had to get a totally
different phone number. Now, you can even move your number from a wireline phone to
a wireless phone or from a wireless phone to a wireline. Read more about this
