On behalf of the Assembly of Scientists at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, we welcome you to our website. The Assembly of Scientists is made up of tenured and tenure-track scientists within the Division of Intramural Research, and its purpose is to further the interests of its members by promoting an atmosphere conducive to professional excellence and scientific endeavor here at the NIEHS.

The Assembly has two general meetings each year, approximately in May and November, and all members are welcome to attend and discuss issues of concern. Furthermore, each year the Assembly elects various officers who make up a Council that meets monthly to address specific issues and decide how to proceed. We encourage all members of the Assembly to contact those of us on the Council to express your interests and concerns about making the NIEHS the best research institute it can possibly be. The list of current officers is contained in this site, as well as timely announcements regarding items of interest to the Assembly. Also available on this site is our Constitution and the statement of Principles of Scientific Administration which was drafted to assist current and future administrators as they support DIR scientists in their research efforts.

All scientists who meet the criteria described in the Constitution are automatically members of the Assembly and are eligible to vote and express their views at Assembly meetings. If you are new to the NIEHS and have not yet been included on our list of members, please contact our secretary, Dr. Dori Germolec, and we will make sure that you receive the information we send out to all members. Again, welcome to our site, and please contact us if we can be of assistance in furthering your scientific endeavors here at the NIEHS.
