OVERVIEW
The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Diseases (NIDCR) is pleased to announce the continuation of an initiative to provide no-cost, oligonucleotide genomic DNA microarray slides ("chips") for oral bacteria. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the NIDCR and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Pathogen Functional Genomics Resource Center (PFGRC) located at The Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR). The NIAID PFGRC is a centralized facility to produce and distribute high quality oligonucleotide glass microarrays to the scientific community. The PFGRC serves as an important resource to infectious diseases researchers wishing to investigate the genomics of human pathogens and invertebrate vectors of diseases, including now oral pathogens.
Currently, requests for the following oral bacteria genomic microarrays are now being accepted:
NOTE: Microarrays for other medically related microorganisms may be available from the PFGRC.
Investigators at both research intense and non-intense institutions as well as foreign and domestic laboratories may request the microarrays. Investigators need not be NIDCR grant recipients, although high priority will be given to those who currently have an NIDCR grant studying the oral pathogen. Microarrays can be requested for both exploratory/developmental as well as established research projects. The PFGRC will provide up to 150 glass microarrays per organism per request. Microarrays and any related reagents are provided to the research community for research purposes only. Their use for commercial purposes is prohibited.
Investigators interested in receiving these slides must complete a short application explaining how they will use the slides and their expertise in microbial genomics.
