The Pacific Northwest has been home to salmon and steelhead for thousands of years. Our mission is to secure their future here, now and for generations to come.

The goal is salmon and steelhead populations that are abundant, capable of sustaining themselves, spread out, and genetically diverse. The Salmon Recovery Division is most interested in building partnerships that will deliver with actions to accomplish this goal. We invite you to join us in our work to keep these fish coming back.

• What's New?
  • The Northwest Region has announced its intention to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement on Mitchell Act hatcheries. Comments on initial scoping will be accepted through December 2, 2004.
  • Updated Status Review Findings and our supporting Hatchery Inventory of Effects Evaluation are available (May 28, 2004). The comment period on the Proposed Determinations has been extended through October 20, 2004.
  • Puget Sound Region Hatcheries Environmental Impact Statement public scoping meetings have been held, and the public comment period on scoping has closed. However, for continuing information on the development of this analysis, visit the EIS website.
