Americas' Labor Market Information Services
Americas Labor Market Information System (ALMIS) has become a dynamic system that
produces quality and standardized labor market information and tools in a wide variety
of media and formats to job seekers, employers and the workforce development community.
ALMIS results from collaborative efforts between and among the States, the Bureau of Labor
Statistics, the Workforce Investment Council, and the Employment and Training
Administration (ETA.) It provides critical infrastructure to support the workforce
investment system nationwide with the primary goal of serving the customers of local
one-stop service delivery systems.

The system that is ALMIS broadly includes a number of components at the federal, state, and
local levels including data collection and analysis, research and development, product
development, information dissemination, direct service delivery, and technical assistance
and capacity building. These activities are supported by a network of trained labor
market information professionals at all levels and by ongoing investments in technology
to both create and deliver the products and information.
Investments in ALMIS can be grouped broadly in three categories: development of national
tools; system building initiatives through grants to state consortia; and direct grants to
states.
