National Fire Academy's (NFA) Contract Instructor Web Database

Welcome to the National Fire Academy's (NFA) Contract Instructor web pages. This area is designed to provide you with the most up-to-date information on how to become an NFA instructor, obtain the most current bid package, and publish instructor award information.

By accessing the "How to Become an Instructor" page, you will be provided with the instructor selection criteria for the courses in each of the curriculum areas in which NFA offers courses. These curriculum areas include: Executive Development, Management Science, Arson Mitigation, Incident Command, Information Management, Fire Prevention: Technical, Public Education, Fire Prevention: Management, Hazardous Materials, Counter-Terrorism, and Emergency Medical Services. Each Program Chair has provided specific criteria an individual must meet in order to be added to the list of qualified instructors.

By accessing the "Successful Bidders" page, individuals will be able to access instructor award information that will include the successful instructor's name, course title, location, date, and award amount. This information is public knowledge once the award is made. By providing the information on the web page, the instructor will be able to view this information first hand coupled with the fact that the award information could be used as a "base-scale" when preparing quotes for the next bid submission.

Accessing the "Bid Package" web page, provides qualified instructors the ability to download the most current bid package in its entirety or view each section using the web. Instructors will continue to receive the initial bid package through the U.S. Postal service.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the information being provided, please contact Jo Ann Boyd by phone at (301) 447-1157 or by E-Mail at joann.boyd@dhs.gov.
