Hulshof Announces Tax Reform Subcommittee Meeting On International Taxation

U.S. Representative Kenny Hulshof (R-MO) announced today the House Policy Committee’s Tax Reform Subcommittee will hold a bicameral meeting on international taxation.

The July 17 meeting of the House Policy Subcommittee is the first in a series to comprehensively examine how the federal government collects revenue. The goal is to assist the committees of jurisdiction and the GOP Leadership develop a strategy to implement tax simplification and reform.

“The world economy is becoming more integrated and more competitive. Ninety-six percent of the world’s consumers live outside the United States. Policymakers must make a concerted effort to ensure American businesses are competitive in the world economy. The tax code must be reformed in a manner that reflects modern economic realities and makes American companies more viable both at home and abroad,” Chairman Hulshof said.

In addition to considering tax policy with Chairman Thomas, the Committee will hear from John Samuels, the Vice President-Senior Counsel for Tax Policy and Planning for General Electric, about the impact of international tax law on consumer prices, international competitiveness, and American jobs.
