Combating Childhood Obesity

Get DVDs to Help Prevent Obesity in Children


In response to the growing epidemic of childhood obesity in this country, the Department of Health and Human Services and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) worked in partnership with Discovery Networks, U.S., to develop two new DVD programs. One DVD program is for children and families, and one is for clinicians to prevent and treat childhood obesity and overweight. These are excellent tools that clinicians can use for their own education in this area, and they can share them with children and families to use as a resource.


Children and Their Families

Max's Magical Delivery: Fit for Kids is a fun, interactive DVD targeted to children ages 5-9 and their families. The DVD offers suggestions to:

AHRQ also is working with the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and other groups to distribute copies of the DVD to clinicians and encourage them to have families order copies of Max's Magical Delivery.
