This publication provides tools and information needed to use the Clinical Classifications Software (ICD-10), a diagnosis categorization scheme for ICD-10 data.
The CCS grouper is based on the International Statistical Classification of Disease and Related Health Problems, 10th Revision (ICD-10), a uniform and standardized coding system. ICD-10's codes are collapsed into a smaller number of clinically meaningful categories that are sometimes more useful for presenting descriptive statistics than are individual ICD-10-CM codes. ICD-10 has been used to report mortality data in the U.S. since 1999.
