Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s
(LLNL) missions and our ongoing commitment to being responsive
to future challenges that affect National Security require
outstanding science and technology. While many of our mission-based
programs
also require high levels of security, maintaining excellence
depends upon our open participation in the international
research community.
LLNL has been committed to “Science
and Security” (pdf) since it was founded. We partner
extensively with academia, industry, and other laboratories in
the execution of our missions and, concurrently, in the
advancement of science and technology. As an institution,
we have developed
an “S&T Investment Strategy” that defines areas
of near-term interest to the Laboratory where research collaborations
may be especially appropriate. Potential collaborators can
learn more detail about specific activities at the Laboratory
by exploring “Missions
and Programs” and “Science
and Technology.”
The Laboratory has established organizations
that are committed to enabling collaborations of potential mutual
benefit. Specifically, the University
Relations Program and its “University
Gateway” can assist those from academe who would like
to know more about research partnering opportunities. The Industrial
Partnerships Assistance Center is similarly available to explore
business partnering opportunities and mechanisms that range
from simple licensing agreements through large-scale consortium
agreements.
