New Members Are Named to Primary Care Advisory Committee

HHS Secretary Tommy G. Thompson has announced the appointment of seven individuals to the Advisory Committee on Training in Primary Care Medicine and Dentistry.  The new members, who will serve until September 2006, are: 
  

  • Alan K. David, M.D., professor and chair of family and community medicine, Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee;
  • Sanford J. Fenton, D.D.S., M.D.S., professor and chair of pediatric dentistry and community oral health, University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis;
  • Charles H. Griffith III, M.D., M.S.P.H., associate professor of medicine and associate professor of pediatrics, University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington;
  • Bonnie Head, M.D., family practice resident, Wheeling (W.Va.) Hospital;
  • Joseph L. Price, Ph.D., coordinator of behavioral medicine, family medicine residency program, Southwest Washington Medical Center, Vancouver;
  • Jimmy L. Simon, M.D., F.A.A.P., professor and chair emeritus of pediatrics, Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, N.C.; and
  • Raymond J. Tseng, dental student, dual-degree general dentistry/oral biology doctor of philosophy program, College of Dentistry, Ohio State University, Columbus. 
The 23-member committee advises the HHS Secretary and Congress on a wide range of policy and program issues in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, dentistry and physician assistant programs.
