Data Acquisitions
Landsat 7 follows the WRS-2 system of paths and rows, with a 16-day repeat cycle. Landsat 5 also follows the WRS-2 system, with a temporal offset of 8 days relative to Landsat 7.
Landsat 7
Landsat 7 is typically scheduled to collect approximately 250 scenes per day in accordance with the Long Term Acquisition Plan (LTAP) . All scheduled LTAP scenes will be used to populate the USGS archive. Scenes will generally become available for search and order within 3-24 hours after downlink for LGS-captured data, and within 3-5 days for data that is downlinked to other US ground stations (e.g. ASN, SGS, PKF). The daily scene capture schedules are available at:

In addition to the LTAP (USGS-archived) scenes above, members of the International Ground Station (IGS) network will also collect Landsat 7 scenes via direct downlink for scenes that fall within the IGS's coverage area (as the direct downlink schedule permits). However, please note that IGS downlinks have been suspended since May 31, 2003, pending results of the Landsat 7 SLC anomaly investigation .

Landsat 5
Landsat 5 does not include an onboard data recorder, which means that any newly acquired scene must be captured via direct downlink only. A scene of interest must therefore fall within the coverage area of an operational Landsat 5 ground station in order for that scene to be captured. At present, all scenes within the LGS coverage area are currently being captured and archived at USGS EDC. Newly acquired Landsat 5 scenes will generally become available for search and order within 24 hours after downlink (excluding weekends and holidays).

In addition to the USGS-archived scene capture activities, other members of the Landsat 5 International Ground Station (IGS) network are also collecting Landsat 5 TM scenes that fall within their respective areas of coverage.
