Newfound Star Cluster May Be Final Milky Way 'Fossil'
Astronomers have discovered a globular cluster that may be the last of our galaxy's "fossils" in our own backyard. On the left, a visible-light image shows a dark sky speckled with stars; on the right, a new image from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope reveals a never-before-seen globular cluster. (Oct. 12)
