Downloading Instructions

Users can download entire resources from this site and view them off-line. Please read instructions below.

A number of resources on this site must be transferred to your computer to be useful. In addition, we offer archived versions of all but our largest resources which can be downloaded and browsed while not connected to the Internet. These downloadable files appear on various pages at this site in the following form:

(Download) sample.zip (1K) Sample zip file.

The disk icon reminds you that this is a downloadable resource. The link is the name of the file as it appears on our server. A file size in either bytes or kilobytes is given to aid in estimating download time. Finally, a short description of the file is given.

Downloading:

All of our resources may be downloaded directly from the page on which they appear if your browser supports downloading. For most graphical browsers, hold down the shift key and single click on the filename. You may also right-click on the link and select the appropriate menu item. You will then be asked to provide a local filename under which to store the file.

Refer to your browser's documention for further information about downloading files from the Internet.

Extracting:

Once the transfer has been completed, the resource must be extracted from its archive before you can use it.

All of these resources have been archived using PKZIP 2.04g and will need to be extracted. To do so, you will need an unzipping utility for your system. Both shareware and freeware versions of this software are readily available on the Internet and most major online services. A partial list is provided below to aid you in finding such software.

Refer to the documentation of your Unzip utility for instructions on extracting the files. Note: If you are using Pkunzip to extract files, always use the '-d' option to restore subdirectory structure. This is especially important for downloading and viewing entire resources off-line.

Using the Resource:

See the Installation section on the page where the resource is located for further instructions on installing and using the resource.

If you are viewing resources off-line, please be aware that links to other sites will not work. Be aware also that links to other resources on Northern Prairie's site will not work.

Extraction Software:
